An angry crowd of 600 people attacked and killed an Italian with sticks and stones in Honduras.
Residents of the village of Santa Ana de Yusguare in the south of the Central American country had blamed the 65-year-old for the death of a neighbor.
They also set fire to the Italian's house and vehicle on Thursday, the police said on Friday.
Five suspects between the ages of 19 and 55 were arrested.
According to media reports, the villagers accused their victim of beating a 78-year-old homeless man to death for cutting down a tree on his property.
According to the police, patrol officers tried in vain to hold back the crowd.
Attempts are made to identify other suspects.
