On Monday, a cow jumped from a cattle trailer on Autobahn 8 in Upper Bavaria and walked along the lane.
A farmer was transporting the cattle in the direction of Munich when it suddenly jumped over the closed loading ramp near Raubling, the police said.
The cow then ran across the autobahn against the direction of travel.
Injured cow
The farmer only noticed the loss of the cow when other drivers warned him by honking their horns.
Witnesses notified the traffic police, which partially blocked the highway.
The cow was injured during the jump, but was still very agile, it was said.
With some effort it was finally possible to catch them and bring them back to the cattle trailer.
