A scammer calls a man, introduces himself as a police officer and reports of gold thieves who have been caught near him.

One of the thieves is still on the run.

The fraudster tells the man that the gold thieves had fake gold bars and a slip of paper with his name on them.

Now a colleague has to check whether his gold bars have perhaps already been exchanged for counterfeit gold bars.

The fake policewoman goes to the 68-year-old, who gives her a real gold bar for examination.

But the woman never comes back.

The man is caught up in a fraud gang, as the police announced on Monday.

The damage is in the five-digit range.

According to police, there were ten similar acts over the weekend.

In the nine other cases, however, the perpetrators were unsuccessful.
