Coronavirus in Argentina: 480 deaths and 14,989 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours

In the middle of the second wave of the pandemic, this Monday the Government confirmed

14,989 new cases

and another

480 deaths

from coronavirus in Argentina.

In this way, the country reached

4,662,937 infections

detected and

99,255 deaths

since the beginning of the global health crisis.

All these numbers were published this afternoon by the Ministry of Health in the health report prepared with the information provided by the provinces in the last 24 hours.

In recent weeks there has been a marked decrease in the number of patients with covid-19 in intensive care.

There are currently 262,859 patients with the disease diagnosed in the country, according to the official report.

Within this total there are

5,222

who developed serious

symptoms

and are admitted to

intensive care

.

The occupation of critical beds for all pathologies is 

63.1%

nationwide and 

60.7%

in the AMBA. 

At the global level, taking the statistics accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, Argentina remains in the

eighth place

of the countries with the highest number of infected and in the

eleventh

among the nations with the most fatal cases.

In turn, the country has the tenth highest average of new infections globally (16,067 per day, according to the average of the 7 days prior to today) and the fifth highest average of daily deaths (411, also with data from the July 5 to 11).

Vaccines


This Monday, more than two million vaccines from three different brands arrive in the country.

The first arrived at dawn: Latam Cargo Chile flight LCO1101 brought a shipment of

733,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

from Miami.

In the afternoon, at 15.55, touched down Argentine aircraft Aerolineas Argentinas (AR1065) from Russia with

550,000 doses of component 2 of Sputnik V

.

In addition, at 6:40 p.m., flight AR1075, also from the national airline, from Beijing, China, is scheduled to land in Ezeiza with 768,000 Sinopharm vaccines.

This Monday morning a flight arrived with 33,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

With these three shipments, Argentina will have received

30,487,730 vaccines

.

This comes after yesterday the Government announced the agreement for the purchase of 20 million Moderna vaccines, or their equivalent in booster doses.

They would begin to arrive in the first quarter of 2022.


According to the latest official data, 28,094,744 doses had been distributed as of this morning, of which

3.2 million

still

remain to be applied

.

According to the Public Vaccination Monitor, 19,822,638 people received at least one vaccine against covid-19.

This represents

43.2%

of the population, out of the 45,808,747 inhabitants estimated by INDEC this year. 

Within the total of vaccinated, 5,039,549 people are included who also received the second dose with which the immunization schedule is completed.

That is,

11%

of the population.
