Contaminations have been on the rise in France for a week, 4,256 at the last count this Sunday evening, before that of this Monday according to Public Health France: more than one in two cases of Covid-19 on French territory is a suspicion of the Delta variant.

But for now, the spread of this much more contagious variant is not yet really being felt in hospitals, which are seeing fewer and fewer patients with Covid-19.

This Monday, 7,137 people were hospitalized for an infection linked to the coronavirus, against 7,183 the day before, according to Public Health France.

267 new patients have thus been hospitalized in the past 24 hours.

Among these hospitalized patients, 957 are treated in critical care units, 10 more than the day before (947).

They were over 1,000 a week ago.

55 patients have been admitted there in the last 24 hours compared to 4 Sunday and 9 Saturday.

A worrying sign of resumption of the epidemic.

28 new deaths linked to Covid-19 are to be deplored in the past 24 hours.

Since the start of the epidemic in France, at least 111,353 Covid-19 patients have died, including 84,880 in hospital.

However, the situation could deteriorate in the coming weeks.

SPF also notes a "marked increase in the incidence rate, particularly among 15/44 year olds".

To be continued on Monday, where President Macron is expected to announce new measures to counter a "4th wave".
