(ANSA-AFP) - LA PAZ, 12 JUL - At least 24 people were killed and a dozen injured in the accident of a bus that crashed yesterday in a ravine in southeastern Bolivia, the police said.
"A provisional toll speaks of 24 dead and a dozen injured. Two of them are in critical condition," said JoséLuis Asaff, head of the Chuquisaca traffic police. The bus transported passengers to Sucre, the capital of the department, from the town of Patolo, 50 km away. Assaf speaks of a fall of over "150 meters".
Bus accidents are frequent in Bolivia, the main means of transport for long distances. On 3 March another bus crashed into a ravine causing 21 deaths on a road between Santa Cruz and Cochabamba. (ANSA-AFP).
