Health pass: TER, Transilien ... local transport excluded from the system

2021-07-13T11:02:03.624Z

Ter, Transiliens, metro and bus will not be affected by the health pass, said Tuesday the Minister for Transport Jean-Bap

If the health pass will be required in long-distance transport for passengers and employees, and will be subject to checks on board, this will not be the case for local transport, said Tuesday the Minister for Transport, Jean -Baptiste Djebbari, the day after Emmanuel Macron's announcements.

TER, Transiliens, metros, buses, "mainly used for professional reasons", "are not affected by the requirement of the health pass," said Jean-Baptiste Djebbari on BFMTV.

"The offer is not going to change: we are going to put the same number of trains, planes and long-distance coaches, and we are going to preserve all the terms and conditions for buying, exchanging or being reimbursed for tickets", a- he said.

Long-distance trips concerned

"On the other hand, what will be required from the beginning of August is the presentation of a health pass, therefore the presentation of vaccines or tests, to be able to take these modes of long-distance transport".

In addition to planes abroad already covered by the health pass, other routes and modes of transport will also be subject to controls.

"This will mainly concern TGV and Intercity trains, coaches that make interregional journeys, and domestic journeys by plane," said Mr. Djebbari.

A measure which “concerns around 500,000 people per day.

We are going to specify the modalities, in particular with the SNCF, in the coming hours ”.

Random checks

Who will control these passes, and when?

“More and more people are using the digital format, we are working with Cédric O

(Editor's note, Secretary of State for Digital Transition)

to make the link between reservation and health pass.

In terms of controls, a certain number of trains are accessible (…) after a filter.

There is the possibility, in conjunction with the staff of the stations, the police and possibly with the help of controls on the trains, to set up effective control systems ”.

"We are going to have fairly systematic checks, especially at the time of large crowds at the station, and proceed by random checks, including on board".

In addition to passengers, the health pass should apply to all employees "who are in contact" with passengers, in all sectors of long-distance transport. A similar application to workers in cafes, bars, restaurants and shopping malls. “The modalities are under discussion. To take a concrete example, the SNCF controller will have to hold a health pass, ”said Mr. Djebbari.
