It was a big surprise when Microsoft announced Windows 11.
Now it has also been made public that some features of the predecessor will be missing.
Redmond - Microsoft, the world's largest software manufacturer based near Seattle, USA *, originally announced that Windows 10 would be the last big Windows.
Instead of a new version, there should be a live service that continuously updates Windows 10 and feeds it with new features.
But: puff cake!
On June 24th, Microsoft made official what the sparrows had been whistling from the rooftops since the big developer conference in May 2021: The company moved away from the original plan and officially announced that Windows 11 would appear in 2021.
However, some features of Windows 10 do not make the leap to the successor, as a now published list shows.
Windows 11: These Windows 10 features are missing
As always, the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will change a lot in Microsoft's operating system - whether for better or for worse will ultimately be decided primarily by the taste of the user.
Those features that were still available in Windows 10, but will no longer be available on Windows 11, are listed by Microsoft on its website - below we will show you the most important ones:
The Cortana voice assistant says goodbye to the installation process and the taskbar
Internet Explorer is history.
It will be replaced by the Microsoft Edge browser, which will continue to have IE mode up its sleeve, which, as Microsoft writes, "can be useful in certain scenarios"
Say goodbye to the quick status of the lock menu
The start menu no longer supports named groups and folders of apps, “currently” no longer allows any size changes to the layout and also throws out the live tiles - these can be found in the widgets in the future.
The taskbar will no longer contain any people, their positioning is fixed on the lower edge of the screen and apps can no longer change areas of the taskbar under Windows 11
The timeline will be removed, but some of its features will migrate to the Microsoft Edge browser
The wallet will no longer exist under Windows 11
The following apps will no longer be part of the factory installation: 3D Viewer, OneNote, Paint 3D and Skype.
However, they can be downloaded manually from the store
Windows 11 is replacing Skype with Teams.
Means: The Skype button in the system tray will be replaced by the Teams button.
Tablet mode has been removed and new functions and capabilities for attaching keyboard brackets have been added.
Overall, so writes

, Windows 11 should become more touch-friendly
Long cross-off list, new functions: Are users' wishes accepted or ignored?
It is currently difficult to estimate how the new operating system will be received by users around the world.
While some features have been removed that have been criticized by users, Microsoft remains tough on other decisions - at least as of now.
For example, many would like a flexibly movable taskbar, but Microsoft stipulates that this remains at the bottom of the screen.
With regard to an exact release date, nothing is official yet, except that a release is targeted towards the end of the year.
Many rumors point to a release period from mid-October.
