Record day for anti-Covid-19 vaccination: who made an appointment on Monday?

2021-07-13T10:46:57.904Z

Nearly a million French people have reserved on Doctolib, Monday, a time slot to receive their first dose of vaccine in the days to come.

The previous record is exploded.

926,000 people have made an appointment to be vaccinated against Covid-19 on the Doctolib platform on Monday, the vast majority after 8 p.m.

This is twice as much as on May 11 (471,000 slots reserved) and 350,000 must be added between midnight and Tuesday morning.

Not to mention the thousands of reservations made on the two other much smaller platforms, Keldoc and Maiia

.

The rush began at the very start of Emmanuel Macron's speech on Monday evening.

The Head of State announced in particular that the health pass would apply to many new places, such as cinemas and theaters (from July 21) but also restaurants, shopping centers or trains (from " early August ").

What strongly encourage many hesitant to be vaccinated.

Youth rush

These 926,000 people over 12 who have made an appointment represent 4.2% of all those who have not yet been vaccinated at all.

Two thirds of them are between 12 and 35 years old and three quarters between 12 and 39 years old, according to detailed data from Doctolib.

Why this age group?

Because it is the least vaccinated population pool.

Indeed, less than one in two young people aged 18 to 39 have received at least one dose of the vaccine to date, and those under 40 represent only a quarter of people who have already received at least one dose. vaccine since the start of the campaign.

Conversely, more than 80% of those over 60 have received at least one dose, and this age group represents 40% of the total population having received at least one injection: not surprisingly, it therefore only represents 3.4% of slots reserved on Monday.

11 days on average

All these people who have reserved a time slot for a first injection on Monday will not be vaccinated right away.

Nationally, two-thirds of them will have to wait at least a week to be “bitten” and the average time is 11 days.

This period varies greatly depending on the department, ranging from 5 days in the Gers and Seine-Saint-Denis to more than 20 days in Tarn-et-Garonne and Lozère.

Those who have had Covid or who are vaccinated with Janssen only require one injection.

But they are in the minority.

“The vast majority” of people who made an appointment immediately reserved a time slot for their second dose, said Tuesday morning during a press point Stanislas Niox-Chateau, CEO of Doctolib.

The expected timeframe is 3 to 7 weeks, following the relaxation guaranteed by the Ministry of Health, and it usually amounts to 3 or 4 weeks.

"The majority of people who make an appointment today will be fully vaccinated in a month," sums up the leader, promising that new appointments will be offered permanently.

To have the health pass, however, it takes two additional weeks after the second injection.

Which refers, for all these vaccinated, to the second half of August.

Until then, if they want to go to the movies or to a restaurant (provided the government bill is passed as it is), they will have no choice but to take tests.

Hoping they are negative.
