WhatsApp will soon get a revision of the interface.

This will make in-app notifications easier to see and use.

Mountain View, California - A few days ago WhatsApp *, which has been part of Facebook Inc. * since 2014, rolled out a new update for its short message service to beta users.

Strictly speaking, this is the beta update 2.21.140.9, which was made available on TestFlight.

While it is still being tested and checked by WhatsApp * itself and unlocked users, it shouldn't take too long before the update is available to all users.

But what exactly is changing, what new features does the update have in its luggage?

WhatsApp update improves in-app notifications

With the beta update 2.21.140.9, one thing is in the foreground: Extended options for viewing and interacting with in-app notifications. As a reminder: In the case of WhatsApp, one speaks of in-app notifications when the user opens the app or has it open, a message is sent to him and this is displayed in a small bar at the top of the screen. This bar and its view will be improved with the beta update 2.21.140.9. This preview will be more extensive in the future, for example, it can display GIFs, photos and videos, and the user has more options to interact with the received WhatsApp message. It remains, however, that messages viewed in the preview do not show the senderthat the message has been read by the recipient - even if both users have activated the blue tick *.

WhatsApp is also testing 'View Once' for iOS

The 'View Once' feature has already been tested on Android devices, and now beta users on iOS * will also have access to the WhatsApp innovation.

As the name suggests, the feature allows you to set photos or videos so that the recipient can only look at the media message once.

WhatsApp points out, however, that it is still possible for users to take screenshots of the photos or videos - you cannot be absolutely sure that the recipient only looks at the photo or video once.

The same applies to 'View Once': It shouldn't take too long until the feature is available to all WhatsApp users.

WhatsApp once again targeted by consumer protection

Other messages around the popular Messenger are currently creating a negative mood around WhatsApp.

Consumer advocates complain that the company remains current to have tried User aggressive with partly and intrusive messages *

for

having pushed for adoption of new data protection regulations.

Now a complaint has even been made to the EU Commission.
