Two hundred and fifty projects and engineering works were incubated by the Students' Exhibition of the Technical Engineering Institute in Damascus, which opened today for the first time at the Institute's headquarters with the aim of promoting students' scientific ideas and encouraging them to compete and launch into the labor market according to those in charge of it.

The exhibition included projects and engineering works in the arts of ancient and modern architecture, which included the various departments of the institute “drawing, engineering construction, interior design, public construction, transportation, municipalities, technical affairs, topography and sanitary engineering.”

The director of the institute, Dr. Mirna Saud, explained in a statement to SANA that the preparation for the exhibition has started since the beginning of the current academic year and will be a first step, followed by successive steps in the field of displaying the completed works of the students of the institute on a quarterly and annual basis, noting that the students are divided into groups interested in all aspects of architecture, starting from ancient architecture to To modern, which includes towers and entire urban areas.

Regarding the selection of projects, Saud said that it came based on what it contained of serious ideas and new topics to support the civil and architectural engineer, referring to the current cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Damascus Governorate and the General Company for Engineering Studies, so that the marketing and promotion of the students of the Institute and securing job opportunities for them confirmed the Institute’s keenness To provide full support for ideas and projects that reflect students' creativity and contribute to development, construction and reconstruction.

Among the students participating in the exhibition, the student Abdul Rahman Saad talked about the project he implemented with his colleagues, which is the design of five-storey residential buildings distributed over four blocks within a public project that included restaurants, residential and commercial complexes, and a distinctive coordination of gardens and shrubs.

The student, Rama Ghassan Al-Harith, said that she and her colleagues implemented a residential suburb project that includes 8 residential blocks overlooking a commercial complex in addition to a hospital and an educational center, pointing out that the project was designed in an exemplary and comfortable manner and touches the expected solutions to the problems facing construction work in terms of wide streets and large areas, while the student Lama designed Al-Shalaq is a living room for a guitarist, which includes details that indicate the personality of the player and the way he lives.

The student, Ghina Matar, indicated that her project included the design of plans for furnished architectural villas characterized by architectural drawings and plans that she completed through engineering programs. The drawing was done manually using lead, ink, colors and wood, while the student Lama Khaled said that she designed public sites for villas consisting of two floors, in addition to swimming pools, children's games and garden paths. .

The student Samira Ghannam said that she and her colleagues designed projects of Arab multi-storey houses in order to highlight and show the Damascene heritage and its ancientness, using wood, colored cardboard, wallpaper, straw and natural materials, while the student Shahd Mahmoud Barghul said that her project and her colleagues included the design of a city that includes residential buildings of the modern style applied. Universal, which is characterized by symmetrical blocks with square and graduated floors.

It is noteworthy that the Engineering Technical Institute in Damascus was created by Legislative Decree No. 697 of 1970 and aims to graduate, train and qualify the technical cadres necessary to serve the construction, technical, municipal and environmental fields, since its specializations are multiple and compatible with the requirements of the labor market.
