They are said to have sent inhuman content: The police searched the apartments of five Berlin police officers. Another case is already being investigated against them.

On Wednesday the apartments were searched by five Berlin police officers.

They are accused of having sent messages with inhumane content in a chat group with twelve participants, as reported by the police and the public prosecutor.

The accused officials had been investigated in another preliminary investigation on suspicion of betrayal.

In the course of the cell phone evaluation, there would have been clues for further criminal offenses.

Additional investigations were therefore initiated against the officials for alleged incitement to hatred and the use of anti-constitutional symbols.

The searches of the apartments and of two business addresses were successful, according to the police and the public prosecutor's office.

The evaluation of the evidence continues.

In addition, legal measures would be examined for all those involved in the chat group.

There were similar cases in other federal states.

Only last week the public prosecutor announced in Duisburg that it was investigating 25 police officers from the Essen police headquarters.

They are said to have posted pictures, videos and audio files in WhatsApp groups that contained the markings of unconstitutional organizations and, in some cases, inciting content.

Last year the police in Mülheim an der Ruhr in North Rhine-Westphalia discovered several WhatsApp groups in which right-wing extremist and racist content was exchanged.

At that time, the investigations were directed against 30 police officers.

When the chat groups in Mülheim were exposed, Interior Minister Reul spoke of a “shame for the NRW police”.

The Frankfurt SEK was dissolved after officers exchanged hating messages and pictures with Nazi symbols in chats.

In addition, several members of the Bundestag police are said to have made right-wing extremist statements or acted unconstitutionally.
