After an increase in new cases of coronavirus for the past 15 days, boosted by the Delta variant, the decline in patients in hospital services

A race against the clock seems to have started in France between the emergence of the Delta variant which leads to an increase in the number of cases and vaccination.

If the latter was revived by the announcements of new restrictions on Emmanuel Macron's health pass, it could run behind the epidemic resumption.

New figures for the epidemic on this national holiday reveal that 7,047 people are still hospitalized due to the coronavirus, against 7,076 yesterday.

Of these, they are still 931 in critical care service, stable compared to Tuesday (933).

Indeed, while the incidence rate in France has now increased for the past 15 days, to 40.3 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (with a test positivity rate which also goes back to 1.26%), the recovery could begin in the coming days in hospitals.

These days, France is detecting just under 4,000 new positive cases per day.

Vaccination: records of appointments and injections

There are 143 new hospitalizations per day, on average over the past week, 115 were reported on Wednesday.

The same goes for the services that welcome the most serious cases, with 19 new entries this Wednesday, or 26 admissions on average.

Figures which are however probably disturbed, therefore lower than reality, due to a lower number of hospital lifts on this holiday.

As proof, "only" six deaths have been reported in 24 hours in hospitals.

On the vaccination side, the rush for appointments was confirmed on Tuesday with a record of 1.3 million bookings announced on Doctolib, after the 926,000 on Monday.

According to Jean Castex, more than 792,000 injections were thus carried out on Tuesday, a record there too.

Bringing the total to nearly 36 million first injections Tuesday night, or 66% of adults.

In total, soon 28 million adults will be fully protected with two doses, or 53%.

According to the Ministry of Health, 78% of those over 65 are reached.
