There are currently many complaints on the Edeka Facebook page.

The reason: a sign stating that bottle collectors would not receive any money for the deposit.

Hamburg - In the last few days, a note attached to an Edeka branch caused a lot of excitement on the net.

The accusation: Edeka * discriminates bottle collectors.

Several people caused a real wave of complaints against the supermarket chain, especially on Facebook *.

The controversial sign read in capital letters: "Large quantities of empty bottles 'bottle collectors' are no longer accepted by us and not reimbursed at the cash register!"

Edeka has since commented on the allegations.

Edeka: Strong criticism from the network because of the deposit collector's sign

On the Edeka Facebook page, there were many posts with complaints about the official-looking note.

"Edeka loves food - but not poor people.", "Shame" and "Edeka - it is not only inhuman, but also illegal!" Could be read there.

For many people it is one of the few ways to make ends meet by collecting bottles and returning the deposit.

Edeka: This is how the supermarket chain reacts to the incident

Edeka has since commented on the sign, diligently commenting on the allegations in the Facebook posts.

The supermarket chain's official Facebook account usually wrote the following reply comments:

Good morning, we take the criticism very seriously and have contacted the market - the sign in question has already been removed.

We would like to make it clear at this point: Everyone is welcome in our markets.

And of course we welcome the return of deposit bottles everywhere.

The incident seems to have been an unfortunate one-off that Edeka has now eliminated from the world.

Bottle collectors can therefore continue to hand in their deposit in the markets - regardless of the amount collected.

At the beginning of the week, Edeka had made more headlines: First, the chain announced an important change to its cash registers *, then there was a real stir in the network because of a gender-neutral glass.
