Farmer claims - this is the right way to put eggs in the fridge (theshilohfarm / TIKTOK)

The Israeli summer provides us with quite a few challenges - the heat, humidity, sun and nerves are just part of our lot, but there is one more issue and it is no less dangerous than the others - food poisoning.

In a year when we all seem to make up our dinners and lunches from leftovers from Walt deliveries, we looked at which foods are actually less worth ordering on hot days.

5 healthy foods that can make you feel very bad

To the full article

Food poisoning is a type of inflammation in the digestive tract (stomach and intestines) that can be caused by an infection of bacteria, viruses or parasites that have found their way into our food, or of toxins created in food as part of the metabolic process of bacteria (due to poor storage or cooking conditions).

Food poisoning is usually accompanied by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or a combination of symptoms, which can occur immediately after eating or after a few hours.

Here are some of the deliveries that might be worth giving up on particularly hot days:

Sushi

The immediate suspect.

Sushi is probably the immediate suspect in food poisoning, due to the raw fish it contains which can be more dangerous due to the fact that it is not cooked.

On hot days, fish - and especially nice fish - that are stored in the wrong conditions can spoil quickly, and the same is true of the shipping bag that makes its way to you.

Eating spoiled fish can cause a unique condition that mimics an allergy.

The symptoms of this histamine poisoning mimic a severe attack of allergy, and they can be life-threatening.

Unlike a normal allergy in which the body itself secretes a large amount of histamine, this allergy results from eating fish stored in sub-optimal conditions, and in which bacteria like E. coli have multiplied.

These bacteria secrete, among other things, an enzyme that causes the production of histamine, so eating these fish can create a severe allergy-like reaction.

The best way to avoid this dangerous situation is to simply eat in hygienic places and take extra care when it comes to tuna, seafood, mackerel, sardines, anchovies and herring.

Foods with uncooked eggs

An addition that you should actually download.

Eating a sandwich with an egg salad, an egg on a hamburger or even a Caesar salad can be especially dangerous on hot summer days.

Pay attention to any food that may contain uncooked eggs, especially if they are not pasteurized.

The main cause is the salmonella bacterium responsible for gastrointestinal infections in humans and animals, and it is common in the intestines and feces of birds.

The bacterium can cause diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and abdominal pain that accompanies cramps, but also more severe infections.

The populations particularly susceptible to complications following bacterial infection are children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends thoroughly rinsing your hands with soap and water before and after egg treatment. Also thoroughly clean utensils and work surfaces that have come in contact with uncooked eggs to prevent the bacterium from transferring to other foods - which probably happens in fewer restaurants, probably during hours The load.

lettuce salad

Just looks innocent.

Dan Scalco, founder of the American FoodBoxHQ food delivery review site, uses rather scary wording to describe why ordering a salad delivery is not a smart idea.

"Salads can form bacteria when kept at room temperature and in a humid environment, two prerequisites for bacterial growth."

In addition, lettuce leaves are usually washed at the beginning of the shift, and sometimes even pre-cut, which increases the risk that they will not only be much less tasty, but will also form a substrate for bacterial growth.

In fact there are those who are not willing to order a salad at a restaurant at all, because lettuce leaves are a source of E. coli bacteria.

In 2018, dozens of people in the United States began eating lettuce contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then recommended that the lettuce be eaten with extreme caution and avoid eating pre-cut lettuce.

Sandwiches with mayonnaise

Ticking bomb.

We are sure that most of you remember the case that occurred in 2019 in which two diners who ate a salad and a tuna sandwich at the Aroma branch in Tel Aviv were evacuated to Ichilov Hospital due to an acute allergic reaction.

One of the diners was in a very difficult situation after she lost consciousness and was in a state of deep market.

The other person came for treatment due to headaches and accelerated heartbeats.

So.

There are two problems with tuna sandwiches from restaurants: they are usually high in fat because they are usually loaded with mayonnaise, and they can also spoil easily when not stored in cool temperatures or eaten immediately.

The combination of tuna, or egg salad, mixed with more eggs (mayonnaise) is a ticking bomb just waiting to explode on hot summer days.

Certainly if it's a shipment that can take between half an hour and an hour.
