Deadline
has revealed that Spanish star Antonio Banderas will be joining the cast for the fifth installment of the highly anticipated Indiana Jones Adventures.
If his presence is confirmed, no information about his character has yet been revealed.

The actor of
The legend of Zorro
thus joins the cast already constituted, of course, of Harrison Ford, who takes the costume of the famous adventurer for the fifth and last time, at the age of 79 years. The two renowned actors will be accompanied by Mads Mikkelsen, Danish actor from
Casino Royale
and
Drunk
. It is also the latter who will play Grindelwald in the next installment of
Fantastic Beasts
, replacing Johnny Depp. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of the
Killing Eve
and
Fleabag series
, will also be alongside them, along with Boyd Holbrook (
Narcos)
, Shaunette Renée Wilson (
Black Panther).
and Thomas Kretschmann (
The Pianist).

If Antonio Banderas has only joined the poster now, the filming of the film has already started for several weeks.
With, at the helm, not Steven Spielberg as on the four previous parts, but the director James Mangold.
The latter has already made several feature films that have met with great success, such as
Walk the line
which won the Oscar for best actress to Reese Witherspoon, but also
Logan, 3:10 for Yuma
or
Le Mans 66
.
On the music side, it is John Williams, already composer of the first four parts, who is responsible for this
Indiana Jones.
At the end of June, we also learned that Harrison Ford had injured his shoulder on the set, while he was rehearsing a fight scene. An accident which should not a priori have repercussions on the release of the film, scheduled for July 2022, Disney having declared in a press release that “the filming schedule would be reconfigured”. While waiting to see which role Antonio Banderas has landed, his fans can see him in
Hitman & Bodyguard 2
, still in theaters, and soon find out in another opus of
Puss in Boots
.
