(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 16 - BRUSSELS, JUL 16 - The bad weather and heavy rains that hit the center of Europe from Germany to Belgium are continuing to cause serious inconvenience also in the Netherlands. About 550 families were evacuated this morning in Holland in the single Dutch town of Roermond, located along the Meuse, in the province of Limburg. The water has reached a record level according to the agency responsible for highways and river installations Rijkswaterstaat, writes the ANP agency. Sirens and megaphones woke the inhabitants of Roermond around 6 am, they must have left their homes an hour later. Floods are feared in this city in the center of the province of Limburg. On Friday morning the Meuse had reached a flow rate of over 3,300 cubic meters per second. Unrecord, according to the Rijkswaterstaat. Two districts of Maastricht have also been evacuated in the last 24 hours. About 350 people are temporarily housed in the sports halls. According to Mayor Annemarie Penn, however, they will soon be able to return home if bad weather allows a respite. Yesterday, King William Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the city of Valkenburg, in Limburg, which was hit by heavy floods. (HANDLE).
