The platform went much faster than last year, argues the Ministry of Higher Education. Almost 9 out of 10 high school students

A few hours before the end of the main phase of Parcoursup, which ends at midnight, more than 91,000 candidates are still waiting on Friday for a proposal for an assignment in higher education for the next school year.

According to the latest count from the Ministry of Higher Education, 91,178 candidates out of a total of 841,518 did not have an assignment offer on Thursday evening: 45,683 high school students, 33,770 candidates seeking reorientation and 11,725 enrolled in abroad.

In a joint statement, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of National Education welcomed that "89.3%" of high school candidates have received at least one admission proposal.

This rate is more than 1.1 percentage points higher than last year.

These better results, which concretely mean that nearly 9 out of 10 high school students have already found an answer to their wishes to pursue higher studies, also hold true for students in reorientation, despite the greater number of enrolled this year on Parcoursup (76.9% or 1.2 additional points compared to 2020) ”.

"The Parcoursup platform went faster, made more proposals to high school students and candidates since last year only 8 out of 10 high school students had received at least one admission proposal", stressed to the 'AFP Jérôme Teillard, Parcoursup project manager for the Ministry of Higher Education.

A "personalized device" for those who have not received a proposal

"Our priority at the moment is that those who have proposals can go and register and that for those who have not had any proposals, we can trigger a personalized device to find a solution for them by the start of the school year," a continued Jérôme Teillard.

Since the beginning of July, “high school pupils and students who have not received an admission proposal have been asked to inform them about the opportunities of the complementary phase and invite them to request the support of the access commissions to the higher education (CAES) ”, it is written in the press release.

According to the two ministries, "4,816 high school graduates have already requested the support of the CAES of their academy and are currently supported".

Last year, at the same stage of the Parcoursup procedure, 53,892 high school students (out of a total of 662,363) and 39,243 applicants seeking reorientation or educated abroad (out of a total of 194,853) were without a proposal.

A total of 591 high school graduates were unassigned at the end of the Parcoursup procedure last year at the end of September. For all those who will go unanswered from Friday evening, it is advisable to look at the vacant places of the so-called "complementary" phase, which runs until September 16.
