Thousands of demonstrators are gathering this Saturday afternoon in Paris and in several major cities of France to protest against the extension of the health pass which must be adopted Monday in the Council of Ministers.

The measure announced Monday by President Emmanuel Macron in order to slow the progression of the Delta variant on the territory is causing controversy among part of public opinion.

In Paris, a rally, supported in part by the yellow vests and relayed by the rebellious deputy of the Somme François Ruffin, started at 2:30 p.m. from the Plaisance metro, in the 14th arrondissement.

Hundreds of people flocked from the station in the early afternoon, according to our reporter there.

The figure of the yellow vests, Jérôme Rodrigues was present in the procession.

In Lille, at least a thousand people gathered on the Place de la République, some condemning what they consider to be a “health dictatorship”.

References to the 39-45 war were numerous in the procession, indicates France Bleu Nord.

In the demonstration, also appear caregivers claiming "more time" to be vaccinated, the ultimatum of September 15 fixed by the president being "unbearable" to them.

Faced with the tensions, the police have already used tear gas, according to La Voix du Nord.

There are many references to 39-45.

'Fascism', 'dictatorship', and on Sonia's sign, a Star of David.

It is totally assumed.

This is not in reference to the Shoah but to discrimination against Jews.

In Alsace, some 600 people marched in Strasbourg to say no to the health pass which for many, "is part of a growing suppression of freedoms".

The crowd includes some figures of yellow vests, but also caregivers and citizens of all ages, specify our colleagues from France 3 Grand-Est.

Likewise, 400 people began to march in Perpignan against vaccination and the health pass, chanting “Macron resignation” or “liberty, freedom”.

Processions also began to form at the beginning of the afternoon near Bordeaux (Gironde), Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and Narbonne (Aude) to say no to the “shame pass”.

Despite its ban by the prefecture of Occitanie the day before, a demonstration is also held in the streets of Toulouse from 2 p.m.

Between 3,000 and 3,500 people parade there, according to La Dépêche.

The demonstrators redouble the pressure while the bill must be debated on Tuesday in committee in the National Assembly, before the hemicycle the next day.

It will be Thursday the turn of the Senate dominated by the right, to examine the text for final adoption by the weekend, at the end of the extraordinary session in July.

Deputies and senators could fairly quickly agree on this bill which is the subject of its principles of a fairly broad approval, except LFI and the RN.
