A thin layer of soft dough, small cubes of caramelized apples with cinnamon and finally golden crumbs.
These cuts have been with me since I was in the army, when I would receive a box full of them from home.
They accompanied me on study days to exams until the wee hours of the night during college, and to this day the perfect accompaniment for me alongside a cup of coffee.
If you are looking for something delicious to break the fast with alongside a cup of tea or homemade cold lemonade, these crunchy dough squares with the apples are all you need.
In the summer I like best after the cut to put in a closed box, freeze and pull out for me every time a frozen treat or when someone pops in for coffee.

Ingredients
For dough:
3 cups puffed flour
½ Cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
200 grams of cold butter, cut into cubes
2 tablespoons cold milk
For the stuffing:
5 apples, peeled and cut into small cubes
½ Brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
20 grams of butter

Preparation
How to make crispy dough and apple slices?
1 Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
2 In a pan, heat butter, sugar and cinnamon, mix and add the apples.
Cook until softened and cool.
3 In a food processor, process the dough ingredients in short pulses only until the dough crystallizes.
You can also use a mixer with a guitar hook (or with your hands, but then use soft butter at room temperature).
4 Half of the dough is flattened on a rectangular pan and the other half is wrapped in a bag and transferred to the refrigerator.
5 Bake the dough for about 15 minutes, remove and flatten the apple filling on top.
6 The other part of the dough is crumbled over.
A coarse grater can be used.
Return to the oven for another 20 minutes of baking at 170 degrees.
