The largest international study ever among people with post-corona has identified more than 200 symptoms: from brain haze and hallucinations to tremor and tinnitus.

These symptoms spread across 10 of the body's organ systems, and a third of the symptoms continue to affect patients for at least six months after recovery.

"A lot of post-Corona clinics in the UK have focused on respiratory rehabilitation. It's true that many people have shortness of breath, but they also have many other problems and types of symptoms that clinics need to provide a more holistic approach to," said Athena Ackrami, a University College London neuroscientist. The study.

According to her, she herself is still experiencing symptoms - 16 months after she was infected with Corona.

"Apparently, there are tens of thousands of patients in post-Corona who suffer from silence, and are not sure that their symptoms are related to Corona," she said.

The study, published in the journal Lancet's EClinicalMedicine, surveyed 3,762 people with post-corona symptoms.

The researchers identified 203 symptoms, of which 66 were studied for seven months.

The most common symptoms were fatigue, weakness after exertion (their health condition worsens after physical or mental exertion) and brain fog.

Other symptoms included hallucinations, tremors, itchy skin, menstrual changes, sexual dysfunction, palpitations, bladder control problems, shingles, memory loss, blurred vision, diarrhea and tinnitus.

Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of post corona.

The researchers also noticed the progression of symptoms over time.

"After six months most of the remaining symptoms are systemic - things like temperature regulation, fatigue, weakness after exertion - and neurological (affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves)," Akrami said.

Respondents with symptoms that lasted more than half a year (2,454 in total) said they experienced an average of 13.8 symptoms during the seventh month.

During their illness, patients' symptoms affected an average of nine organ systems.

"This is important for researchers looking for the basic mechanisms of the disease, and also for physicians who provide treatment because it suggests they should not focus on just one organ system," Akrami said.

About 22 percent of the people who took part in the survey reported that they were unable to work - were fired, took an illness or prolonged disability or resigned - because of their illness.

45 percent were required to drop in job percentages.

Meanwhile, a review led by researchers at the University of Birmingham and published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine found that those who experienced more than five Covid-19 symptoms during the first week of infection were at significantly higher risk of developing post-corona, regardless of age or sex.

According to the study's editors, more than a third of the patients in one of the studies included in the review reported that they still felt unwell or in a worse clinical condition after eight weeks from the beginning of the corona.
