(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 18 - Turkey today criticized Thursday's decision by the EU Court of Justice on the possibility, by an employer, of prohibiting the Islamic veil or more generally "any visible form of expression of political or philosophical convictions or religious ".
It is a "clear violation of religious freedoms", reads a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry in which it is emphasized that such a measure only aggravates the prejudices against Muslim women in Europe.
The sentence referred to the case of two employees of German companies who had faced internal proceedings for wearing the headscarf to work. The ban, the EU Court specified, "must respond to a real need of the employer".
"This decision - attacks Ankara - at a time when Islamophobia, racism and hatred that have taken Europe hostage are on the rise does not respect religious freedom and provides a basis and legal cover for discrimination".
