(ANSA-AFP) - MELBOURNE, JUL 19 - The lockdown imposed on Melbourne, Australia's second city, to stem the current epidemic wave of Covid-19 will be extended tomorrow evening after an initial five-day period, the authorities announced today.
"It is simply impossible to lift the restrictions tomorrow night," said Prime Minister of the state of Victoria, of which Melbourne is the capital, Daniel Andrews, without saying how long the lockdown will be extended.
Around 12 million people are subject to lockdowns in the Sydney and Melbourne areas.
