When the grills are lit on the balconies, terraces and gardens in summer, then of course the important question always arises in advance: What ends up on the grill grate *?

And this is exactly where our recipe comes in - which can be modified in many ways:

That's the nice thing about grilled skewers: unlike neck steak, it's not a piece where only the marinade influences the taste.

What you should pay particular attention to with barbecue skewers

There are actually two things: on the one hand, that all grilled food that is put on the skewer has roughly the

same cooking time

. There's no point if the sausage dries up while the thick slice of onion still has to frolic in the heat to become soft. So: put

pieces

of the

same size

on the skewers! And note number two:

grill over

medium heat

. So don't go full throttle when it comes to temperature. Grill skewers are filigree grilled food that also needs to be treated that way. It is never wrong to grill skewers on a so-called plancha, i.e. a fire plate. This is heated for a few minutes on the grill and then topped with the skewers.

As an accompaniment to the skewers, grilled corn on the cob wrapped in bacon, french fries, baked potatoes or any kind of fresh and colorful salads are suitable.

Ingredients for the "Surf and Turf" grill skewers

  • 400 g steak hip

  • 400 g pineapple

  • Olive oil (for marinating)

  • 1 teaspoon rosemary powder

  • 2 tbsp chopped dill

  • 400 g prawns

  • 6 cocktail tomatoes

Ingredients for the 1000 Island Dip:

  • 3 pickles

  • 1 hard-boiled egg

  • 120 ml of mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 3 tbsp ketchup

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • Cut the steak into cubes, as well as the pineapple.

  • Take two bowls and add olive oil to each.

    In the first one mix the rosemary powder and marinate the meat in it.

    In the second is the fresh chopped dill and there the prawns are marinated.

  • Now put everything (meat, prawns, tomatoes and pineapple) alternately on the kebab skewers.

  • Preheat the plancha (grill plate) on the grill to 180 degrees.

    Brush the plancha a little with olive oil and grill the skewers on both sides for about 5 minutes.

  • Delicious with the grill skewers: 1000 Island Dip

  • Chop the cucumber and egg very finely.

  • Mix all ingredients well in a bowl.
