(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JUL 19 - After 46 years Bruce Springsteenchanges a word in the song 'Thunder Road' contained in the historic 1975 album 'Born to Run'. The change is in the first line of the song, 'The screen door slams, Mary's dresswaves ', .'Waves' becomes 'Sways'. This is how the latest web puzzle was solved after New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted a photo of an empty stage photo of 'Springsteen on Broadway' (a series of concerts held by the Boss between 2017 and 2018 in two New York theaters). The caption read 'A screen door slams, Mary's dress sways'. Immediately the network turned against it by saying that the right word is 'waves' and not 'sways'.

In both cases it means to sway, but wave refers to waves, in this case it is a dress. The version with 'waves' also appears on Springsteen's official website, but he uses 'sways' in his autobiography 'Born to Run'.

So the dress 'waves' or 'sways'? To solve the mystery, 'Born to Run' co-producer JonLandau intervened and said that the right word is 'sways'. "Laparola is 'sways' - he specified -. It is the way he left it in his blocknote, where he sang it in 'Born to Run' in 1975, where he sings it now on Broadway. Any typos will be correct". Probably the word 'sways' was confused with' waves' due to a speech impediment, as' dress' ends in a hissing 's' and therefore' suh-ways' (sway) is difficult to distinguish from 'suh- waves' (waves). Rolling Stone magazine ranked Thunder Road 86th on its list of the 500 Best Songs of All Time. (HANDLE).
