The success of Jaafar Abdul Latif in the General Secondary Certificate and his brother Hamzah in the Basic Education Certificate does not resemble every success. The result of the two blind brothers since birth is the fruit of a path of will, patience, effort and hope for everyone with a disability to believe in his abilities to achieve any dream he desires.

Jaafar is the eldest son of Shadia Aqel and her husband was born blind as a result of optic nerve atrophy, and from the moment he was diagnosed with blindness, Aqel told SANA: She and his father decided that they would support him in overcoming his disability in all his life steps, the first of which was knowledge, and the beginning was with his registration in a kindergarten for the blind when he was three years old.

Akil adds: I learned Braille for the blind in order to be more able to communicate with him and follow his teaching at home. I was keen to have extensive contact with his surroundings, as he continued his studies at the Institute of Special Education for the Blind and with the interest of the teaching and administrative staff, he finished all stages of study with excellence and showed a special interest in learning English and computer In the General Secondary Certificate Examinations, the Literary Branch, he obtained a score of 2018 out of 2800.

At a time when the birth of a second child with a disability may be sad and shocking news for the family, the birth of Hamza in a similar situation to his brother Jaafar increased the family’s insistence on confrontation and challenge so that the two children would be distinguished and superior, as the mother says, noting that she and her husband followed the same path with Hamza, who is currently studying at the Institute of Special Education for the Blind Basic Education Certificate with a score of 2762 out of 3100 and he aspires to study Arabic literature, where he obtained 587 marks out of 600 in the Arabic language.

Jaafar, who aspires to enter the Faculty of Arts, Department of English, especially that he obtained a score of 374 out of 400, expressed his happiness for being close to his dream, stressing that nothing is impossible with the will and determination and a loving and encouraging family.
