(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 19 - Among the mega state universities (those with over 40,000 enrollments) in the first two positions, the University of Bologna is confirmed, first with an overall score of 91.8, followed by the University of Padua (88.7) . They are the results of the Censis annual ranking of Italian universities.
Following, exchanging the positions of the previous year, La Sapienza di Roma, which with a score of 85.5 rises from fourth to third place, and the University of Florence, which downgraded from third to fourth, reporting the overall value of 85.0.
The University of Pisa remained stable in fifth position, with 84.8 points, followed by the University of Turin, which regained a position in the ranking (82.8). Last among the mega-universities is the University of Naples Federico II (73.5), preceded by the University of Bari in the penultimate position (79.5).
The feared contraction in enrollments due to the pandemic in the academic year 2020-2021, underlines the Censis, did not occur, also thanks to the exceptional measures to support the right to study approved. On the contrary, the growth of 4.4% in enrollments consolidates the positive trend that has been repeated for seven years now. Calculated on the population of nineteen, the registration rate reached 56.8%.
In 2020, compared to a male enrollment rate of 48.5%, the female one was 65.7%. For females, an annual increase of 5.3% was recorded compared to + 3.3% for registered males. With 77.7% of female students enrolled, the Artistic-Literary-Teaching subject area is the one with the highest feminization rate. On the contrary, in the Stem area (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) the female universe is represented by a share which, although growing every year, still remains a minority (39.4%).
