With the participation of students from the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, the World Biology Olympiad competitions, organized by Portugal remotely, started today with the participation of 296 students from 74 countries around the world.
The Excellence and Creativity Authority stated in a statement that SANA received a copy of it that the Syrian team consists of four members, and the competitions include two rounds.
The duration of each exam is 3 hours, and it is held from one exam center at the Commission's headquarters in Damascus.
The participating students, according to the authority's statement, are subject to practical and theoretical tests of the global level.
And the practical test for this year is inspired by the journey of the Portuguese explorer Fernando Magellan, who made a trip from Portugal to Asia with the Spanish fleet. During his journey, he stopped at 8 stations and made discoveries during it.
In honor of the explorer Magellan on the 500th anniversary of his death, the organizing committee decided to conduct the practical test for the World Biology Olympiad in the form of a simulation of his journey, so that there will be 8 stops, each containing a number of questions and practical tests.
It is noteworthy that this is the fifth participation of the students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the International Biology Olympiad.
