2021-07-20T04:04:16.360Z

After being ordered to apologize and leave showbiz by a student accusing him of rape, the former member of the K-Pop group EXO defends himself and denies the facts with which he is accused.

His accuser had given him 24 hours to leave the entertainment world: an actor-singer, star in China, vigorously counter-attacked Monday and denied the rape accusations of which he is the subject.

Canadian of Chinese origin, Kris Wu is a former member of the Sino-South Korean group EXO.

Ambassador of Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Lancôme and even L'Oréal, his face is omnipresent in advertisements in China.

Also known as Wu Yifan, the 30-year-old man, also a model, starred in the film

Valérian et la Cité des mille planètes

(2017), directed by Luc Besson.

Rape charge

In an interview published on Sunday that sparked a media storm, 19-year-old college student Du Meizhu accused the pop singer of raping her during a date when she was 17.

According to her, Kris Wu has also slept with other girls, enticing them with alcohol or the promise of making them famous.

The accusations sparked a wave of support from women on the Chinese social network Weibo, where the hashtag #InterviewDuMeizhu had already racked up 1.8 billion views on Monday.

The student also accuses the actor of wanting to buy his silence for 500,000 yuan (66,000 euros).

She had given him an ultimatum this weekend, asking him to leave the entertainment world and apologize, otherwise she would give details of the assault in question.

The demented singer

Kris Wu strongly denied the accusations on Monday.

"

I only met Miss Du once, at a party with friends

," he said.

There was no trickery rape and no one made anyone take drugs or alcohol to rape her!

"

The student said she planned to "

take legal action

", the alleged behavior of Kris Wu highlighting "

problems in the Chinese entertainment industry

."

The actor's agents, already released by several Chinese brands of which he was the ambassador, indicated that they were filing a complaint against the accuser.

If the #MeToo movement remains modest in China, it has contributed to greater freedom of speech for women victims of violence.

However, no celebrity has been convicted so far.
