Covid-19: vaccinated contact cases will be exempted from compulsory isolation in the event of a negative test

People who have been vaccinated and tested positive will remain subject to compulsory isolation for ten days.

This is the only relaxation granted to people vaccinated on the issue of compulsory isolation: in the event of a negative test, contact cases fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will not be subject to compulsory isolation, explains the Ministry of Health. at the Parisian.

Until the promulgation of the government bill, which intends to introduce new rules on the compulsory isolation of people infected with Covid-19, all contact cases must observe a minimum self-isolation of seven days (without force control of the order), including after a first negative test, reminds the Health Insurance.

“It is possible to be contagious 48 hours before the onset of signs, or to be infected without having signs of the disease.

Isolation makes it possible to avoid infecting loved ones without knowing it and to better control the epidemic, ”she explains.

A vaccinated person learning that they are in contact will also have to undergo an initial screening, but, if they prove negative, they will not be subjected to isolation, specifies the Ministry of Health.

Isolation maintained for positive vaccinees

On the other hand, if his test is positive, the vaccinated contact case will be subject to isolation for ten days, like all people infected with Covid-19.

This isolation will be fixed in a place of his choice, with exits authorized only between 10 a.m. and noon, or in case of emergency.

This measure was already in place for unvaccinated passengers arriving in France from a country classified as “red”.

If the rule is not respected, infected people risk a fine of up to 1,500 euros. In principle, the law indicates that they can be checked at home by the police between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., and noon and 11 p.m. There remains one snag: the feasibility of the measurement in the field. Regularly checking thousands, even tens of thousands of positive cases for police officers and gendarmes, "it is materially impossible", reacts Patrice Ribeiro, secretary general of the Synergie-Officiers union.
