While contaminations have been exploding for several days, there is a drop in the overall number of people hospitalized. 22 person

"We are in the fourth wave", warned this Wednesday noon, on the set of TF1 Prime Minister Jean Castex, alerting to the greater contagiousness of the Delta variant.

One way for the government to sound the alarm and speed up vaccination and the implementation of the health pass.

The figures published this Wednesday by Public Health France show an epidemic which resumes, and hospitalizations which stabilize.

This Wednesday, 6,869 patients are received in French hospitals due to a Covid-19 infection.

This is 43 less than the day before, Tuesday, when there were 6,912 patients.

There were 7,076 a week ago.

If the number of patients in general decreases, we must take a look at the new daily admissions which, in turn, increase over a week.

281 new patients have been admitted in the past 24 hours, against 327 the day before and 246 last Wednesday.

This Wednesday, Olivier Véran had unveiled before the National Assembly "an increase in hospitalizations with several hundred fragile people".

21,000 new cases

In critical care services (continuous monitoring, resuscitation and intensive care), the number of patients is also stabilizing.

This Wednesday, 859 people are hospitalized there, against 876 Tuesday and 933 seven days ago.

64 new patients were admitted there, against 61 the day before and 37 seven days ago.

The total number of deaths at the hospital, which had crossed the threshold of 85,000 deaths on Tuesday, reached 85,042 on Wednesday. 22 new deaths are to be deplored in the last 24 hours, against 33 Tuesday and 22 a week ago.

As of Tuesday, more than 18,000 new cases had been identified over 24 hours. The Minister of Health was alarmed in the National Assembly, warning of the urgency of the implementation of the health pass. This Wednesday, without giving the precise figure, Olivier Véran announced that 21,000 French people had tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period. We have to go back to mid-May to find figures at such levels.
