With 2,241 positive cases and five deaths between July 12 and 18, Martinique entered the 4th wave of the Covid-19 epidemic with a progression of the Delta variant, according to a report from the Regional Health Agency.

This is the first time since the start of the epidemic that the 2,000 case mark has been crossed.
The incidence rate (number of cases over 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants) goes from 278 to 625. And the positivity rate, that is to say the proportion of positive tests on all analyzes, goes from 10 at 15%.
"The Delta variant is progressing in Martinique and now concerns 9% of new cases," said Olivier Coudin, deputy director of the ARS.
Before specifying: "At the CHU, nearly 80 patients are being hospitalized against 29 including 7 in intensive care last week".
Transfers of patients to mainland France are being considered.
Curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Faced with this situation, the prefecture has not taken any new restrictive measures for the inhabitants.
"We have to find a balance between freedom and responsibility," said the regional prefect.
The population is already subject to a curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
However, the latter announced two new measures concerning restaurants as well as access to certain places, subject to the health pass.
Thus, indoor catering activities are now prohibited, while outdoor activities as well as take-out may continue.
In addition, as in metropolitan France, the health pass will now be necessary to access a show, cinema and theater, as well as sports halls if they bring together more than 50 people simultaneously.
