South Korean director of
Parasite
Bong Joon-ho will chair the jury of the Venice Film Festival, alongside French actress Virginie Efira and Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao, organizers announced on Wednesday.
Palme d'or 2019,
Parasite
had achieved a historic double in 2020 by obtaining the Oscar for best foreign film as well as that for best film.

Bong Joon-ho will be assisted by several big names, including Chinese director Chloé Zhao, who won
three Oscars
with her film
Nomadland
this year, including that for best film.
Virginie Efira, who presented in Cannes the sulphurous
Benedetta
, by Paul Verhoeven, featuring the inflamed love between two nuns in a medieval convent, had returned empty-handed from the Cannes festival.
The film is adapted from the book by historian Judith C. Brown,
Sister Benedetta, between saint and lesbian
, published in France by Gallimard.
The Italian director and screenwriter Saverio Costanzo, author of the series
L'Amie prodigieuse, based
on the bestseller of the writer Elena Ferrante, will also sit in Venice. The British Cynthia Erivo, actress of theater and cinema, singer and songwriter, Canadian actress and producer Sarah Gadon, as well as Romanian director Alexander Nanau complete the jury. The 78th edition of the Venice International Film Festival will be held from September 1 to 11.
