Because of the huge rush for medical places, the University of Exeter has made a special offer for prospective students: If applicants are ready to start their studies in the coming year, they should be allowed to live on the university campus for one year free of charge.

In addition, they should receive a one-off payment of 10,000 pounds (equivalent to just under 11,600 euros), as the BBC reports.

This year, according to the report, a record number of new students applied to the subject of medicine at the university in southwestern England, 20 percent more than last year.

Decide by July 30th

Since the end of the course is subject to technical practical training in the national health service NHS and the course is funded with public funds, the number of annual medical courses is limited by the UK government.

In England this number is around 7,500 places per year.

Applicants have to decide by July 30th whether they want to accept the offer.
