(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 22 - A Rai still leader in audience ratings, in the face of an overall decline in the audience and the growth of other operators, in particular the over the top: this is the photograph taken by the Observatory of the Studio Frasi final balance of the first semester 2021, on the days when the new top management takes place in VialeMazzini.


    Between 1 January and 30 June of this year, Rai - based on Auditel data processed by Studio Frasi - produced an average audience of 4 million people (3 million 957 thousand) and a share of 36.3%, with Mediaset a 3.5 million (3 million 467 thousand) equal to 31.8); third publisher is Discovery with 800 thousand average viewers and 7.3% share.


    The general context records an overall decline in TV viewing by 1.1 million people compared to the first half of 2020 (the period affected by the first lockdown), but an increase compared to the same period two years ago. In particular, between the first half of 2019 and that of 2021, the audience grew by half a million people.


    In a phase of adjustment of television consumption, among publishers only the public service sees its share of total television grow (+ 1.7%). However, the growth of those that Auditel classifies as 'Other' TVs emerges strongly, broadcasters who do not want their audience data to be disseminated: once it was almost exclusively local networks, today instead this item also includes part of the connections to over the top. Compared to 2020, the 'Others' grew by 15.5%: in absolute values, their average following reached just over one million spectators, equal to a 9.6% share. In the first half of 2019 the audience was 758 thousand individuals with 7.3%.


    "The others - reflects Francesco Siliato, head of the Observatory of the Phrases Studio - move their value well and it is to be believed that the growth is largely due to the inclusion of those who follow the various Amazon Prime, Netflix, TimVision and more. From these operators greater transparency and a sign of intervention by Agcom are expected, in view of the presentation of the Annual Report to Parliament on 26 July ". (HANDLE).
