The difficulty in obtaining doses of the second component of the Sputnik V vaccine to complete the schedules of the thousands of people who received a first application more than two months ago reveals the Government, which sent a letter to the Russian Investment Fund to demand new items .
It was
Cecilia Nicolini
, the adviser to President Alberto Fernández, who wrote the letter that he sent via email to Anatoly Braverman, the right hand of the owner of that fund.
In that note, Nicolini, who led negotiations in Moscow with Carla Vizzotti to buy the vaccines developed by the Gamaleya Institute, reported a "critical" situation due to the impossibility of completing the vaccination schedules.
"As I mentioned to you today, we are in a very critical situation. We were hopeful that, after the conversation that you, Carla, Kirill and I had a couple of weeks ago, things were going to get better. But they have gotten worse." points out the letter, to which
La Nación
agreed
.
In another part of the letter, published by journalist Carlos Pagni, Nicolini Braverman warns that "at this point the
entire contract is at risk of being publicly canceled".
"... At some point, we could think about receiving more component 1 than 2, or think of new strategies, but we urgently need something from component 2. At this point the entire contract is at risk of being publicly canceled. We understand the missing and the production difficulties of a few months ago. But now, seven months later, we are still far behind, as we are beginning to receive doses from other suppliers on a regular basis, with schedules that are being met, "says Nicolini.
