British right-wing extremist Tommy Robinson has to pay £ 100,000 in damages for defaming an underage Syrian refugee online.
This was decided by a judge at the London High Court, as reported by the British news agency PA and the BBC.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, had distributed video clips showing how the then underage Syrian was attacked by other students in a playground.
Robinson alleged that the boy had previously beaten girls and threatened classmates.
The clips were clicked hundreds of thousands of times on the Internet.
Syrians had to drop out of training
As a result, the boy had to change his address due to hostility and break off his education.
However, the judge found that there was no basis for the right-wing extremist's allegations.
Robinson wanted to fuel the situation with his choice of words.
The convicted Robinson is the best-known face of the far right in England, often associated with football hooliganism.
At times he was a member of the right-wing British National Party and was a co-founder of the Islamophobic and right-wing extremist association English Defense League.
