Vaccines and stroke: the Lyon firefighter antivax soon in disciplinary council

2021-07-22T13:12:15.234Z

A video in which he claimed the existence of a link between anti-covid vaccination and stroke risk went viral last May

In the video posted on WhatsApp two months ago, Pierrick Thevenon appeared moved. He was coming out of a Lyon hospital, in his fireman's outfit and giving himself up in front of the camera. For him, no doubt, the vaccination had a link with the stroke of the patient he had just helped. "It is I myself who potentially makes the link" he said first in the video, cautiously, before explaining that a nurse had told him about "massive strokes of people having been vaccinated in the 15 previous days ”. This video posted on a private group, relayed on Twitter, has gone viral in the conspiratorial and vaccine-skeptical spheres. And it doesn't matter if the hospital quickly denied the nurse's so-called comments.

Despite a posteriori apologies, Pierrick Thevenon, a 32-year-old firefighter, did not respect his duty of reserve.

He is therefore summoned for a disciplinary council on September 22 at the administrative court of Lyon.

"The more it is displayed, the more the sanction will be important," told Figaro an official of the South union, who defended the firefighter.

The latter will surely be sanctioned with a demotion or dismissal.

"I would like everything to be able to stop" he regretted according to the Progress.

But the virality of his video has gained ground - 40,000 views on Twitter - and his hierarchy wants an explanation.

Media recovery in the vaccine-skeptic sphere

These regrets did not prevent Pierrick Thevenon from intervening in a program of La Une TV, a channel particularly fashionable in the corona-skeptical and "antivax" movements.

Former France Tele journalist Richard Bountry presents his Web TV as France's “media counter-power”.

While waiting for the real launch of the media, scheduled for September, shows on Twitch or YouTube are frequently organized.

Among the supporters of the WebTV: Florian Philippot, Francis Lalanne, or the Belgian conspiratorist Jean-Jacques Crèvecoeur.

Among the dozens of people who came to participate in the July 19 conference available on YouTube, Pierrick Thevenon spoke for five minutes "as a committed citizen and city councilor in an unlabeled list". Elected in a small town near Lyon, he quickly clarified that his words did not engage the rest of his municipal team. He has also repeatedly moderated his speech in front of the spirited Richard Boutry. The former journalist did not hesitate to quickly introduce him as a victim.

"He is a man of the field, since his video, as if by chance, he is no longer there" launched Richard Boutry. The young firefighter was quick to qualify, explaining that he was on leave of his own accord. During his speech, he nevertheless repeated on several occasions his mistrust of the health pass even if he "fully respects those who make the choice of vaccination". We tried, in vain, to contact Pierrick Thevenon this Thursday.
