(ANSA) - LA VALLETTA, JUL 23 - There are about 160 Italian students who are positive for Covid and quarantined in Malta who in the afternoon will be boarded on a special flight organized by the Maltese national tourism organization (MTA), which should leave by 6pm direct to Fiumicino. Only students of English school, some minors of the Erasmus + program and one or two under 18 on vacation (who are technically unaccompanied minors) will be admitted on the flight, operated by the Italian Neos specialized in tourist and health charter, all positive and that have requested it.
In the early hours of the afternoon, MTA vehicles will begin gathering the students in the various quarantine places, using paths that minimize external contact.
Upon arrival in Rome they should be directed to the Sheraton, the only Covid hotel in Lazio, but the final details will be set out in a meeting of the Farnesina Crisis Unit, with the Italian ambassador in Malta and heads of the competent Italian departments.
In the last few hours, the list of those who will be boarding the flight, compared by the Maltese authorities with that of the requests received at our consulate in Valletta, saw the exit of a group that finished quarantine yesterday and chose to return to Italy by their own means ( but some remained on vacation on the island). On the other hand, a small group of children who had arrived in Malta as part of the Erasmus + program joined.
In the afternoon, a similar direct flight to Madrid is also scheduled for Spanish students (also about 160). Yesterday the French left. There are no charters for German students placed in quarantine because they are positive. Last Monday the quarantined but negative German boys were instead evacuated to Frankfurt on the same special flight that previously left 58 Italian boys in Rome. (HANDLE).
