Russia assured this Friday that it will fulfill its obligations to supply anticovid vaccines to Argentina and other countries, although it admitted delays in shipments.
"As regards obligations to foreign markets, including Argentina, these will undoubtedly be fulfilled," Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said at his daily telephone press conference.
In the case of shipments to Argentina, Peskov indicated that "there was a delay."
He added that the Russian Direct Investment Fund (FIDR), which markets the Sputik V bidosis vaccine abroad, "is in contact with its counterparts to solve the problems that inevitably arise."
Noting that intensive work is being done on this, Peskov stressed that the priority is to meet the vaccination needs of Russians.
"They know that the vaccination campaign (in Russia) is gaining momentum and the awareness of citizens is increasing. Vaccination rates are increasing more and more. And it is undoubtedly the priority," he said.
The statements of the Kremlin spokesman come after a letter from an adviser to the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, addressed to the FIDR, in which he demanded the sending of more second doses of Sputnik V and slipped the possibility of breaking the contract. with the Russian authorities.
