(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, JUL 23 - The west of the United States continues to burn, with widespread fires affecting above all the states of Oregon and California, generating a gigantic cloud of smoke that envelops the entire country as far as the east coast and looming over cities like New York and Washington.
In Oregon, the flames of the Bootleg Fire have incinerated an area of over 1,600 square kilometers, destroying at least 70 homes and forcing part of the population to a mass evacuation. Although the situation in the last few hours seems to be improving with the huge fire that appears now limited. In northwestern California, on the border with Nevada, the greatest concern is the Tamarack Fire which has led the authorities to evacuate much of the Lake Tahoe area where the flames are affected by an area of almost 200 square kilometers.
