Discovering the beautiful city of Metz through digital arts

2021-07-24T06:13:36.718Z

VIDEO - Through its three routes, the Constellations festival offers unexpected walks in this little-known city yet rich and so beautiful in terms of heritage.

For a long time, Metz was known under the stamp of a garrison town;

it is celebrated today for its beauty.

Not only pretty, but environmentalist before the hour thanks to the impetus of the famous botanist Jean-Marie Pelt and Father Roger Klaine.

This extraordinary city - and unfortunately too little known - is rich in Roman remains, medieval houses, Italian Renaissance palaces and German architecture for the most recent.

We discover all this heritage thanks to the “Constellations” festival and its walks along the water and monuments, punctuated with digital works of art.

With, for example, this spectacular video mapping on the pediment of the sublime Gothic cathedral or, at the end of a nice stroll in the Sainte-Croix district, in the old church of the Trinitarians which has become an exhibition hall, a game of mirrors à la Vasarely by Petr Vacek and Adam Cigler.

Place de la Comédie, opposite the oldest theater-opera in France, has been erected a geodesic dome inside which are projected 360 degrees digital views of Metz and Montreal, the city of Canadian artists C4rt0 and Ena Eno.

A little further, in the temple at the end of the island which separates the two branches of the Moselle, the immersive installation of the Spanish collective Playmodes restructures the nave thanks to the play of lights of some fifteen overpowered projectors.

A nocturnal stroll that exalts the fifteen works scattered around the old town.

For those who love daytime walks, two routes have been designed: “

Art and gardens

”, our favorite, or “

Street art

” which, despite its title, is a little more popular.

The “

Gardens

” route offers ten stations from the old Porte des Allemands, and offers superb views of the old town that can be seen all along the Moselle.

Take good shoes and keep your eyes peeled, because these three courses are a real delight, and enjoy the alleys, the waterways, the astonishing viewpoints offered by this splendid, airy and green city.
