The biologist reveals the keys to a sustainable future after the pandemic to create a collective conscience to preserve the environment

Julia Carabias, a Mexican biologist and researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), answers questions about sustainability and the environment sent by users of Hay Festival 2021. What can we learn from unworthy communities about preservation? What should be the next step to reverse the impact of business? Which country in Latin America is the most advanced in public policies to protect the environment? These and other doubts to evolve from an individual thought to a collective mentality are those clarified by the award-winning researcher to envision a sustainable future.

Carabias, who won the International Cosmos Award in 2004 for his work in defense of the environment, is part of the Hay Festival's Imagine the World program. In this space, a series of personalities selected for their knowledge and experience will reflect on current problems, each one from their discipline of study, thinking about the different possibilities that arise as a result of covid-19.
