In Saxony-Anhalt, the police are looking for a green python about three meters long.
On Saturday, the lack of the privately held snake in the city of Haldensleben was noticed, the police said.
Even on Sunday morning, there was still no trace of animals, as a police spokesman said.
If you see the snake, you should definitely keep your distance and call the police.
How did the escape come about?
The owner of the python is currently receiving medical treatment, apparently the animal used this to flee.
The snake is probably still in the city or in neighboring communities.
How exactly the police want to recapture the python was still unclear on Sunday morning.
The animal rescue has suggested, among other things, to cool them down with a CO2 fire extinguisher, said the spokesman.
Snakes are cold-blooded animals that can only move slowly at lower temperatures.
On Sunday, however, the German Weather Service expected warm weather in the area with temperatures around 28 degrees.
Pythons do not normally live in Europe, but in Africa, Asia and Australia.
They are among the strangler snakes that entwine their prey to kill.
