A decrease of about 80% in the number of tourists entering Morocco this year

With all the enthusiasm, it should be noted that Morocco has experienced an increase in morbidity in Corona in the last two months, with last Friday the country recorded an average of 1,911 new infections and 2,433 daily infections in the past week.

In November 2020, the peak of infections in the country was recorded - 6,195, but since then there has been a sharp decline, until June this year, as stated.

Morocco is currently considered by the Ministry of Health as a destination with a travel warning (Corona) due to its morbidity level.

However, the vaccinated passengers returning from it are not required in long-term isolation (for now), beyond isolation of up to 24 hours until the results of the PCR test at Ben Gurion Airport.

It should be noted that due to morbidity in the country, airports in Morocco recorded a 78.8 percent decrease in passenger traffic during the first half of 2021 (2,473,988 passengers), compared to the same period of 2019 (11,669,548 passengers), according to the country’s Airports Ministry (ONDA).

For example, the "Muhammad V" airport in Casablanca, where half of the country's international passengers pass through, recorded a 73.50 percent decrease between January and June this year than in the same period in 2019.

The decline in arrivals to Morocco pertains to many markets in the world, but especially the European one from which more than 72 per cent of tourists come to Morocco in the country, and it retreated by 84 per cent compared to the same period in 2019.
