Heavy storms in Belgium again.
In Dinant, on the Meuse, heavy rain and floods caused severe damage.
The masses of water flooded the streets of the historic town and swept away many cars.
According to the first information, nobody was injured.
Muriel Hurlait, resident:
“The water came so fast, my car wobbled. I then turned around and tried to get home quickly. But all roads were blocked. There were torrents everywhere. I then left my car in Dinant and walked home. I was up to my knees in the mud. "
Belgium's French-speaking region of Wallonia was hit hardest on Saturday night.
It was the second storm catastrophe for the cities in the Maas valley near the German border within a very short time.
Just a few weeks earlier, 37 people had died there in flash floods.
Pierre Coleau, resident:
“The water came down from up here in less than 20 minutes, it kept getting more and more. Then it was a flood. Little by little it swept away all the cars. Everything was piled up back there. And then the water ran into the garages. Now everything has to be rebuilt again. "
Mud and rubble not only covered the streets of Dinant on Sunday, many cellars were also full.
Andy Martinez, resident:
“The water streamed into my living room and here in the basement. It came from the front and back of the two windows facing the streets. And now everything is washed away. "
Large parts of Europe are experiencing extreme weather this summer.
