Last Thursday evening, Kanye West hosted a listening session for his new album »Donda« at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. As the Internet portal "TMZ" reports, West should not have left the multi-purpose arena in the southern metropolis since then. The rapper allegedly set up a studio room and an apartment in the stadium and hired a cook to prepare meals there, while West continues to work on "Donda".
The album is named after the successful US rapper's mother who died in 2007. It had already been announced on July 20, 2020 on West's Twitter account for the following Friday - without anything happening. Most recently, a commercial for Beats headphones named 23 July 2021 as the date - one day after the listening party in Atlanta. But now the release of the album has been postponed to August 6, according to a West confidante. Nothing is known about the background.
Kanye West is one of the most influential musicians of the past 20 years. His album releases are pop cultural events. Most recently, however, the rapper made headlines not only with his music, but also with his divorce from Kim Kardashian, his closeness to Donald Trump or irritating comments about slavery. Ever since his album “The Life of Pablo” from 2016, the album announcements that have been announced several times and then postponed have been part of West's numerous quirks.
Although the Atlanta stadium is now hosting a prominent special guest, its program continues as normal.
On Saturday, West was spotted in the stands at the Atlanta United soccer game that was being played there, wearing the same red jacket and pantyhose mask that he had already appeared in at his listening session on Thursday.
Several photos of soccer fans who saw Kanye in the stadium are circulating on Twitter.
