A 21-year-old man is said to have killed a roommate and severed his head in a homeless shelter in Regen in Lower Bavaria.
According to the autopsy result, the victim died from a large number of knife wounds, the police said on Monday.
It looks like the man was no longer alive at the time of the beheading.
The suspect was arrested a few hours after the death of the 52-year-old last Monday and was later placed in a district hospital.
The motive for the crime is still unclear, said a spokesman for the Lower Bavaria police headquarters.
The accused has so far not given any information on the matter.
According to the police, there have not yet been any indications of a politically or religiously motivated act.
But assume a dispute between the perpetrator and the victim.
