Covid-19: masks, bars, gatherings ... new restrictions in Haute-Corse

The prefecture has decided, as of tomorrow Tuesday, the ban on gathering more than 10 people on the beaches and in the public space from 9 p.m.

Wearing a mask will become compulsory again in dense areas in Bastia, Corte, Calvi, Ile-Rousse, Calenzana and Saint-Florent.

The streets concerned will be listed in consultation with the mayors of the cities during the day.

In addition, bars and restaurants will close their doors at midnight on August 1st.

All establishments open to the public are concerned.

Nightclubs remain, for the time being, subject to the same regime as before without early closure.

Gatherings of more than 50 people will also be more supervised.

The health pass is already required.

It will also be necessary to declare the event to the prefecture, for example for a wedding.

The name of a health pass manager will be requested.

“The health situation is deteriorating day by day everywhere in Corsica and no longer only concerns Balagne.

All the micro-regions of the department are now concerned.

This worrying growth obliges us to take certain measures, ”explained François Ravier, the Prefect of Haute-Corse.

An incidence rate four times higher than the national average

The incidence rate in Haute-Corse is 699, a figure well above the national average (166 this Sunday).

In the "great Bastia", which includes Saint-Florent and part of Cap Corse, the incidence rate even reaches 845 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

These figures have exploded in young populations with 2193 positive cases per 100,000 in 20-29 year olds according to data from Public Health France.

The prefecture recalled the efforts put in place concerning vaccination. 6,800 people received a first injection from July 12 to 18, a figure five times higher than at the beginning of July.
