(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 26 - Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti, the highly anticipated and finally announced among the 5 Italian titles in the competition, the new ambitious film by the director who with the debut film Lochiamavano Jeeg Robot gave a shock to recent Italian cinema, conquering dozens of awards, a box office record and an audience of fans. Written again with Nicola Guaglianone, finding Claudio Santamaria in the cast (with Aurora Giovinazzo, Pietro Castellitto, Giancarlo Martini), Freaks Out was born from a challenge: "to set a film that was both an adventure story, a novel training and - last but not least - a reflection on diversity. To do this - said Mainetti - we approached the occupied Rome of 1943 with emotion and respect, but at the same time we gave free rein to the imagination:this is how our four freaks were born, unique and unrepeatable individuals, protagonists of a story bigger than them ".
